REDBULL CHARIOT RACES

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINNERS OF THE 2010 REDBULL CHARIOT RACE: SIGMA KAPPA, SIGMA PI, AND ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA

Where: 330 East Fairmount, State College, PA

When: Friday April 23, 2010

Red Bull Chariot Race is not your typical toga party. The inaugural event debuted in Athens last year…Georgia not Greece…to celebrate Greek life and school spirit (and also mixed in a healthy serving of rivalry).

This year the event is rolling into several college towns with ours taking place on the final day of Penn State Greek Week on Friday, April 23rd. Local modern minds are tasked with designing chariots and preparing for their journey along the Fraternity-lined East Fairmount Ave.

Each team is limited to three members and they must maneuver their man-powered chariot (no horses here) through the designated course in State College's Fraternity Row. Teams will race head to head in a bracket format competition with the top teams advancing to the finals. Speed is important, but style counts! Each team will perform a short skit to woo the crowd prior to the start.

The team crossing the finish line first will be awarded the coveted Hermes Prize. Teams that are not blessed by the gods with speed shouldn’t fret. Two additional prizes are bestowed on those with other talents: the Archimedes Award will go to the team that displays the most inventiveness and design, and the Greek Spirit Award is handed out to the team with the most creativity, enthusiasm and performance.
