Rush FAQ
1.What is a fraternity? What is AEPi?
A fraterniry is a greek letter organization characterized by strong ties to friendship and moral principles.
AEPi is a social fraternity, which means that it exists as a body of men living and working together for
a common purpose. That purpose is to enhance the college experience through a wide variety of
activities, including social events, community service, and intramural sports. AEPi is the only national
Jewish fraternity, and is a member of the Interfraternity Council.
2. What is Rush?
"Rush" is a relaxed, 3 week-long period where fraternities hold events that are designed to meet new
guys and welcome freshmen to campus. Downtown, where all the fraternity houses are located,
is buzzing with barbecue pits, music, people tossing around footballs and just enjoying the first
few weeks of school. At Penn State, sorority "recruitment" is a completely different process
from fraternity Rush.
3. What events does AEPi have going on during Rush?
AEPi has parties and events every night of Rush. In the past several semesters, AEPi has held barbecues,
poker games, themed socials, bowling, parties, Rush dinners, themed socials, and like always, free food!
We make sure Rush is a memorable event not to be missed. Be sure to check out our rush schedule
for the current semester for events happening every night.
4. Where are your Rush events?
Rush events are held at the AEPi House on 240 East Prospect Ave. Go up Locust Lane (street next to canyon)
turn right onto East Prospect Ave. and we are the second house on the left.
5. As a Rushee, what should I do during Rush? What shouldn't I do?
Rush is one of the most easy-going and fun events on campus the entire semester. There is nothing to "do,"
just have fun! But if you have any questions about AEPi or about fraternities in general, remember to
ask them at Rush events. Brothers are able to answer many of your questions about the fraternity experience.
Rush is a chance for you to relax, have fun and check out the great experience AEPi offers.
6. Once Rush is over, what happens?
Once Rush is over, the brotherhood of Alpha Epsilon Pi extends bids to students who rushed and are
interested in being part of our fraternity.
7. What is a bid?
A bid is an invitation from the brotherhood to a student to join their fraternity.
