The Penn State Dance Marathon: THON 2008

THON The Penn State Dance Maraton is the largest student-run philanthropy in the country, raising millions of dollars each year for the Four Diamonds Fund and Penn State's Children's Hospital in Hershey, Pennsylvania. This year, Penn Lambda was again paired with the sisters of Phi Mu, raising over $65,000 and participating in spirit point events throughout the fall and spring semesters. The brothers of Penn Lambda and their THON counterparts in Phi Mu won the spirit point competition for the second year in a row. Chip Struble (Senior, Business and Psychology) was this year's THON chairperson, and Josh Pastor (Junior, Chemical Engineering) is in charge of canning.

For the coming 2008-2009 school year, Junior Jon Spehar (Information Sciences and Technology) will serve as the new THON Chairperson, with Josh Pastor continuing his work as canning chairperson.

Intramural Sports

IM Sports Penn Lambda has been a top competitor in fraternity intramural sports the past few semesters, participating in football, softball, volleyball, squash, the annual 5k race, basketball, soccer, tennis, golf, wrestling, and badminton. Also, a team comprised primarily of brothers competes in two intramural hockey leagues each semester.

Greek Week: Spring 2008

Greek Week 2006 Greek Week is always an entertaining and fun-filled event at Penn State, allowing members of the Greek community to compete amongst each other throughout the duration of the week. This year, Penn Lambda partnered in a triad with fraternity Alpha Epsilon Pi and sorority Alpha Xi Delta to compete in the festivities. Winning spirit points for the top chariot in the race and winning the canned-goods sculpture for charity were two of the notable accomplishments for the week. Freshman Matt Monkhouse chaired the weeklong event.
