Beta Phi Pi History
"On April 6, 1986, three young men gathered together, for the first time, to discuss plans of launching a new Fraternity on the campus of Western Illinois University. They shared the common interests of providing service to the surrounding community and spreading brotherly peace, love, and unity among all people. They also shared a strong moral belief that all men were created equal and that NO ONE should be subjected to any form of physical, intellectual, emotional and/or spiritual abuse known as HAZING. Instead, they sought to uplift individuals to promote a more positive image and build strong, successful leaders who will make a difference. These leaders will be known as the Men of Beta Phi Pi."

Beta Phi Pi Fraternity, Inc., a nationally recognized organization of college and professional men, is one of the nation's newest Black Greek lettered organizations. We embrace the fundamental principle of providing a non hazing environment to stimulate personal growth within individuals. The goals of the organization are best expressed by our two mottos, "Striving for success, stressing excellence" and "We build men, men build futures." Though Beta Phi Pi is still quite a young organization, it is in fact one of the most positive and fastest growing fraternities in the country.
The men of Beta Phi Pi promote, brotherhood, self-improvement, African American pride, equal rights, and service to the surrounding communities with youths as our primary target. It is therefore necessary that Beta Phi Pi functions primarily as a service organization while social priorities fall into place.
