Chapter History.

The Iota Chapter of Sigma Omicron Pi at the Pennsylvania State University was established on July 9, 2001. On that day, thirteen dedicated women of the Iota Chapter Charter class founded the ninth chapter of Sigma Omicron Pi-- the first active chapter to reach outside the borders of California and onto the east coast since 1997. These women realized the need for a strong, reputable network of Asian American women and began their pursuit for sisterhood.

The thirteen found sisters are:
Teresa Ahn
Jessica Bacheler
Grace Chon
Miory Kanashiro
Esther Kim
Min Jung Kwon
Hee Young Lee
Ivy Lee
Josephine Lue
Michelle Mun
Christine Paik
Mindy Scheidegger
Stephanie Yee

Since its establishment, Iota Chapter sisters have dedicated themselves to promoting Asian awareness and fulfilling their responsibility to the community by exemplifying the four objectives of Sigma Omicron Pi: Unity, Friendship, Leadership, Service.
