Asian Awakening 2008|| April 12th, 2008

The sisters of Sigma Omicron Pi performed in the 12th annual Asian Awakenings, presented by the Asian Pacific American Coalition on Saturday April 12. First, an elegant dance called the "Vibrant Thousand-Armed Buddha," which was originally performed by twenty-one completely deaf and mute Chinese women. The traditional piece incorporates elegant yet intricate arm and hand movements with colorful ribbons that took an audience on a cultural tour. Our dance was photographed and featured in The Collegian.

In addition, the sisters of Sigma Omicron Pi switched the pace up and danced their butts off to the modern dance, of current and hip-hop music that brought the energy level of event sky high.

Annual Hyperochos Awards (Greek Oscars) 2008

**Cultural Dance Coordinator: Kei Wong ll Modern Dance Coordinator: Kei Wong

Held at the Nittany Lion Inn on April 13, 2008, the sisters of Sigma Omicron Pi snagged an award along with showcasing the audience a traditional Chinese dance. The Sigma Omicron Pi sorority won the "Academic Achievement Award" under the Multi-cultural Greek Council, proving that they are truly the sisters of pedagogy, the art of education. We also added some flavor of the award show by dancing away to our "Vibrant Thousand-Armed Buddha" scarf dance. ΣΟΠ was invited as guest performance along with other outstanding groups.
