  Q: What is a Sorority?
  A sorority is a group of women joined together for fellowship and friendship, sharing a lifelong common bond of sisterhood.
   
  Q: What is Sigma Omicron Pi?
  Sigma Omicron Pi is one of the oldest Asian interest sorority in the nation, having been founded in 1930! We have based our sisterhood on 4 objectives – UNITY, FRIENDSHIP, LEADERSHIP, and SERVICE, and strive to exemplify all of them in every one of our activities. As members of the Greek Asian community, we strive to defy any negative stereotypes of Asians, females, or sorority like through our leadership and community service. Sisters of SOPi have a reputation nationwide of being very real and down to earth, and the sisters at Penn State are definitely no different!
   
  Q: What does SOPi do?
  Through community service, workshops, sisterhood events, social events, and our overall leadership in the Penn State community, we strive to exemplify our 4 objectives. Most importantly, through such activities, we strengthen our genuine sisterhood.
   
  Q: How can I join?
  Come check our any of our rush events! If you like what you see, you can sign up for an interview.
   
  Q: What is Rush?
  Rush is a time for you to come and hang out with the sisters of Sigma Omicron Pi. We offer you information about the sorority and give you the opportunity to get to know us so that you can make the best decision possible for yourself. Rush is ALWAYS FREE and requires no commitment at all. It consists of many fun and exciting events to attend usually during the first two weeks of school. It is also a great chance to meet new people and to have fun.
   
  Q: What is a bid?
  A bid is an extended invitation to Sigma Omicron Pi. The extension is to be a pledge for our sorority and to learn about our history.
   
  Q: What is a pledge period?
  A pledge period if when you become a pledge of Sigma Omicron Pi. It is a chance for you to have a mock sorority within your pledge class. It is a chance for the pledge class to understand and learn what Sigma Omicron Pi is about and where it came from. The pledge class will work together as one to learn and experience something special and unique.
   
  Q: I’m not Asian. Can I still join?
  Of course! Though our sorority is historically Asian, we represent girls of all ethnic and racial groups nationwide. Sigma Omicron Pi does not discriminate, and if you’re a woman looking to make a difference while having fun, we may be the sorority for you.

How do I become a sister of SOP ?

  « Sign up for an interview. This is a chance for you to ask us any questions or speak of concerns that may not have been answered during rush events.
