What is Panhellenic?

The Penn State Panhellenic Council is the governing body for Penn State's 23 inter/national sorority chapters. With such a large greek system at Penn State, the Panhellenic Council (sometimes abbreviated "PHC" or "Panhellenic") unifies and oversees the chapters and serves as their collective link to the campus and surrounding communities.

The Panhellenic Council works throughout the year to organize events of common-interest to the more than 2,000 women that belong to our chapters. Last semester, the Panhellenic Council organized a hazing awareness program, a scholarship luncheon with faculty members, and a family carnival for the State College community, just to name a few events. The Panhellenic Council also organizes formal recruitment in the fall, where potential new members are able to meet our chapters and learn more about joining.

Penn State has one of the largest sorority systems in the country, with 20 National Panhellenic Conference chapters and 3 associate chapters. Learn more about each of our chapters here.
