Pi Beta Phi and Literacy

Pi Beta Phi's commitment to literacy dates back about 100 years ago to the founding of a school in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.  From 1912-1969, Pi Phi was solely responsible for all education in Gatlinburg.  Today, Pi Beta Phi continues the tradition of education through numerous partnerships with foundations supporting literacy and education for children and families.
Pi Beta Phi has national partnerships with the following foundations:

Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts
Champions Are Readers

Arrow in the Arctic
First Book
Speed Read
Read Across America
Fraternity Day of Service

The Library of Congress Center for the Book

Pi Beta Phi Local Philanthropies

The sisters of Pi Beta Phi at Penn State are partners with the sisters of
Sigma Delta Tau and the brothers of Beta Sigma Beta in a philanthropy called
Cure Autism Now.  Our hard work raises money to help children with autism.

The sisters Pi Beta Phi at Penn State are also partners with the brothers of Sigma Alpha Epsilon to raise money for the Penn State Dance Marathon (THON) that takes place each February.  The money raised for THON benefits The Four Diamonds Fund which supports pediatric cancer.
